My friend Merlin ordered this nativity scene for Christmas. Now all I need to make is one farm animal (sheep? cow?) and the manger, to be made by my carpenter/hubby Nigel.
All I did was dive into my stash of fabrics, doilies, ribbons, lace trims, and threads. I didn’t use any pattern, but simply cut and combined prints, sewed them together by machine and hand, and used fabric glue to tuck in loose ends. All the faces are hand-stitched with embroidery floss. I am thinking of making a smaller version of this sheep, using the felting method.
Baby Jesus (swaddled in white lace) definitely needs his crib, but I haven’t figured that one out yet. Help me, crafty bloggers out there, I need your creative ideas.
By the way, the secret to their ability to stand are plastic beads sewn onto the bottom.
