This year’s Christmas decor is really a coming together of the many things I have been sewing all year. Suddenly, dolls made to practice sewing on faces and Lav Cats that were merely wonderful expressions of my new love for felines have become gifts and were sold to happy customers. Soft toys like birds and hearts made their way to our tree. This particular photo collage shows hearts, birds and a doll with “Love” in different languages.
My family has grown to embrace different cultures — Filipino (our own), Dutch, Kiwi, Hawaiian, German and Japanese (our dear Uncle Chic and Auntie Kuni, our “parents” in Tokyo) — and as these hearts and birds dangle from the branches of our tree, I am grateful to God for bringing us together. Although we are not altogether in one place for Christmas, my prayer is that we all stay close and choose to love one another always — wherever in the world we live. Merry Christmas to you!
