This week’s Sketchbook Skool lesson is about drawing nature scenes. And birds. I have yet to draw a nice one, but watch this page!
Yesterday, I took my sketchbook and portable painting set to the garden so I could paint on the grass. Naturally, Monty was at my heels, wanting in on the action. As I sat Indian style on the ground, he went from next to my art supplies to on my lap. He wanted to be the star! Of course, since this is homework, I couldn’t be deterred from my goal. But that didn’t stop Monty from grabbing at my sketchbook (hence the smudgy leaves on my tree scene – which is not very good, admittedly) and these fun photos.
I have learned one thing about drawing nature: Instead of taking on an entire landscape immediately, I chose to zero in on one plant and its flowers. Baby steps for me.
But I won’t keep trying the challenging bits. And neither should you.
