My “coffee and creativity” workshop debuted in a little café called Pulpo in Basel last Thursday. Called “Espresso Yourself”, it was attended by six wonderful mamas, most of them members of the Basel Mamas Club. It was such an honour to meet these awesome mothers (special thanks go to my sister Marie Schiller for spearheading this event).
Each of the ladies got a special sketchbook to paint on plus lots of watercolour, black pens and coloured pens to play with. I was moved by their enthusiasm to express themselves in colour and words while tending to their little ones. They may have been there to learn from me, but I learned some precious lessons from them. They demonstrated that “Love is patient” (a verse from my fave book, the Bible). Even when their little ones got fussy and needed attention, they never complained. Instead they put down their brushes without grumbling, attended to their babes, and then returned to their creative exploration on paper.
So to my Basel mamas, thank you. I truly enjoyed our afternoon together. Here’s hoping for an #espresso_yourself_with_maya reunion again one day.
