It’s the first day of the week, and a rainy one here in Auckland. The antidote to a wet start of the week? A visit to Antidote Cafe in Takapuna.
It’s easy to park yourself for hours inside this pretty café/art studio/yoga studio/retail therapy hangout. Their doors open at 7am – perfect for an early bird like me! With one of the best coffees around (they serve your brew in a mint green porcelain cup with a dainty teaspoon to mix your sugar with), Wi-Fi, a bookshelf of interesting titles and curios, and a whole retail section for organic veggies to recycled treasures under the Mamma’s Love brand, it’s easy to forget about time.
On the second floor, you’ll find studios where artists offer lessons in painting and other creative pursuits. I’m keeping my eyes peeled for offers that pique my interest, but in the meantime, I’m happy jotting down my ideas for my next project, flat white next to me. And since I am a sucker for great service, I must say I loved watching Antidote’s friendly manager running around, making sure we were all nice and toasty. I certainly was!
