I had to draw this while looking at myself in a mirror, looking up, and then shading instead of drawing distinct lines. I have so much to learn! But one upside to all this is that my drawing is quite pretty, but she doesn’t look like me. She looks more like my youngest sister, Marie!
It’s no surprise really. Many times, my sisters and I have been mistaken for each other by friends. Once, during a school reunion of several batches, I felt the arms of a girl wrap around my waist from behind me.
“How are you, Marie?” the young girl asked me, assuming I was my sister.
“Uhm, she’s fine,” I answered. The arms quickly pulled away, followed by profuse apologies from the girl. “I really thought you were Marie!”
While we were growing up, people who saw all seven of us together would say “You all have the same face!” I didn’t really like that as I wanted to be different. But nowadays, I don’t mind being mistaken for my sisters. I guess it makes me feel like I’m close to all of them despite the miles between us.
